Mary B. "May" (Lovett) Fitzgerald of Melrose, formerly of Somerville died on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at her home. She was 103 years old. Born in Ireland on April 16, 1909, she moved to the United States in 1930 and lived in Cambridge and Somerville before settling in Melrose. May was a homemaker who loved her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, knitting, cooking, reading and praying. She attended Mass at the Mission Church in Roxbury every Wednesday for over 60 years. She was the devoted wife of the late John J. Fitzgerald with whom they shared 63 years of marriage. She was the loving mother of Catherine M. "Kathleen" Fitzgerald of Melrose, John J. Fitzgerald & his wife Margaret of Tyngsboro, James M. Fitzgerald & his wife Diana of Burlington & the late Mary T. Fitzgerald. Cherished grandmother of 8 & great grandmother of 7. Caring sister of Patrick V. Lovett & his wife Mary of FL & 9 late brothers & sisters. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose Monday, December 10th at 9AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours Sunday from 2-6PM. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Arrangements by The Gately Funeral Home of Melrose.
