Catherine A. (Coakley) Priestley passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Aug. 10th at the age of 93. Catherine was born in Boston, was raised in Brookline, graduated from St. Mary’s Grammar School & St. Mary’s High School in Brookline. Catherine has been a resident of Melrose since 1944. She worked as a bookkeeper for Vickers Instrument Company in Malden & Woburn for over 10 years, for a CPA firm in Malden. Catherine also worked as a bookkeeper for the Granada Theater, the Strand Theater and the Twin Theater Drive-In. Mrs. Priestley was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Church and a member of St. Mary’s Ladies Sodality. Catherine was a talented artist, enjoyed painting and crafts. She was the wife of the late Bernard G. Priestley. Mother of Jean P. Flanagan of Arlington, Anne K. Spencer of Melrose and Marie Dolloff of Bradford. Step-mother of Robert Priestley of Martha’s Vineyard, Russell Priestley of Melrose, Warren Priestley of VA, and the late Gilbert Priestley and Olive M. Ryan. Sister of late Sr. Mary Ethna SSJ, John Coakley, Helen McCarthy & Florence Shea. Also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday Aug. 13th, at 9AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary’s Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Thurs. 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gil Priestley Scholarship Fund, in care of MHS Permanent Scholarship Fund, P.O.
