Shirley E, (Crocker) Corcoran, of Melrose, died at home on March 13, 2017 at the age of 85. Shirley was born & raised in Melrose and a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1949. She was a lifelong Melrose resident and Activities Director for the Fitch Home in Melrose for many years. Shirley and her husband enjoyed traveling to Florida, Missouri, Aruba, St. Thomas and Bermuda many times. She loved vacationing in Ossipee, Littleton & Alton Bay, NH. Shirley was a very caring person who would always take care of everyone and her family was the most important part of her life. She was the beloved wife of Donald F. Corcoran for 64 years. Loving mother of Cathy A. Dunne & her husband Richard of Melrose, Joan M. Starkey of Missouri and Susan J. Simeola & her husband Mark of Melrose. Cherished grandmother of Kerri, Brian, Michael, Scott, Stacey, Brooke and the late Chris Dunne. Great grandmother of Trayven, Alissa, Mckenzie, Lance and Charlotte. Caring sister of the late Jean Leahy. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives & friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday, March 17th from 4-7PM. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Saturday, March 18th at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christopher P. Dunne Foundation, 57 Appleton St., Melrose, MA 02176.
