Robert P. Thibault passed away on February 1, 2018 at the age of 79. Robert was born in Lynn on June 27, 1938 to the late Alfred and Arlene (O'Connell) Thibault. He was raised in Lynn and graduated from St. Mary's High School in Lynn, Class of 1956. Mr. Thibault served his country with pride in the US Army. Robert worked as a shipping coordinator at Polaroid for over 25 years. He was been a resident of Melrose since 1972. He enjoyed walking around Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield, swimming, old movies, trips to the beach and Cape Cod. Robert loved listening to Jazz music and was a longtime fan of Notre Dame. Mr. Thibault was the beloved husband of 50 years to Ellen M. (Cronin) Thibault. Loving father of Robert F. Thibault of Melrose, Maryellen Russo & her husband Charles of Nahant and Kathleen Martel & her husband Keith of Candia, NH. Proud grandfather of Anna & Kate. Caring brother of Rita Norman of CA. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 4:00-7:00PM. Funeral procession from the Gately Funeral Home on Wednesday morning at 9:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 9 Herbert St. Melrose at 10:00AM. Interment at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. US Army Vietnam War Era Veteran. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Robert's name to St. Mary's Church, 46 Myrtle St. Melrose, MA 02176.
