Cherished Time with Family & Friends
Peter J. Ferguson, Jr., 50, of Quincy formerly of Melrose & Lynn died at Brigham & Women's Hospital on April 29, 2018.
Peter was born on March 1, 1968 in Landstuhl Germany, the oldest of four children. He grew up in Melrose. He is the beloved son of Peter J Ferguson of Leominster, MA and Maureen E. Ferguson of Lynn, MA. Loving brother David M. Ferguson of Rehoboth, MA, JoEllen F. Solano and her husband Kenny of Melrose and Mackenzie Walsh Ferguson of San Diego, CA. Loving brother-in-law of Nicole & Michael Pytlak of Melrose. Cherished uncle of Tanner, Aiden, Liam, Henry, Quinn, Benjamin and Ethan. Soulmate and first true love of Karin Pendergast, of Quincy.
Born in Germany and raised in Melrose, he went on to graduate from Tewksbury High School. Upon graduation, Peter enlisted in the Army and served in the National Guard. His love for country inspired him to join the Tewksbury Minutemen, participating in historical American Revolutionary battle re-creations for five years.
Peter worked in the transportation industry as a career driver for 25 years. As much as he missed family, he loved the long haul trips and the wonderful opportunity to view America from his commanding 18 wheel perch high above the road. He often times would visit extended family and friends in many various parts of the country whenever he had the opportunity. He was an amazing story teller who loved to share many stories from his extensive road journeys.
Once Peter retired from the trucking industry, he was thankful to spend more time with his family and friends, his two true greatest passions, which brought him so much joy. He embraced every opportunity to get together with those he loved. Although he would often sit quietly off to the side, he would always share a witty or playful remark instantly brightening the conversation! He was truly selfless with his time and his heart and never expected anything in return.
In recent years, he met his one true love, Karin. They traveled together, attended the theatre, walked along Castle Island, enjoyed listening and singing to live music, and loved caring for their two adorable cats, Gizzy and Marvin, or as they loved to call them their "fur babies!" Most importantly, they cherished the opportunity to experience life together with each other and their family and friends.
Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday, May 4th from 4-8PM. Procession from the Gately Funeral Home on Saturday, May 5th at 8:45AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St., Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
