Michael J. Silvio Sr. died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on February 13, 2019, age 63. Mr. Silvio was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on March 21, 1955 to Alice (Jones) Silvio & the late James Silvio. He was raised in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School. He lived in Somerville for many years before moving to Melrose 12 years ago. Mike was a member of the Local 33 Carpenters Union and worked on many projects in Boston and the surrounding communities. He was the beloved husband of 38 years to Catherine A. (Caggiano) Silvio. Loving father of Jennifer Venezia & her husband Craig of Wilmington, Michael J. Silvio Jr, Danielle Silvio, Ashley Silvio all of Melrose and the late Michelle Silvio. Loving son-in-law of Catherine Caggiano of Somerville. Proud "Papa" of Craig Jr., Jared, Matthew, C J & Cassidy. Caring brother of Gail Silvio & Richard Silvio both of Dracut and brother-in-law of the late Carolann Flaherty. Proud uncle of Diana & Johnny Flaherty and Richard Silvio Jr. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Monday, February 18, 2019 from 4:00-8:00PM. Funeral procession from Gately Funeral Home on Tuesday morning February 19th at 8:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 9:00AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Mike's name to Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, 55 Fruit St. Boston, MA 02114. Member of the Local 33 Carpenters Union.
