Luciano "Lou" Fresco passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on July 8, 2018. He was 83 years of age. Lou was born in Boston on November 2, 1934 to the late Charles & Maria C. (Turco) Fresco. He was raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School and received his Masters in Education. Mr. Fresco lived in Wakefield, Melrose and Reading throughout his life. He started out working as a plumber and then taught plumbing at Lynn Technical School for 10 years and then at the Northeast Regional Technical School in Wakefield for 15 years. He enjoyed building furniture for family and friends, camping in his early years with his children and loved a good cigar. But above all he treasured the times he spent with his grandchildren. Lou was the devoted father of Anthony Fresco & his wife Lauren of Reading, Marylou Mumpower of Bristol, VA, Kris Shedd of Reading and Charles Fresco & his wife Stacey of Framingham. Cherished grandfather of Michael & his wife Jennifer, Stephen & Matthew Fresco, Angela Fresco & Leah Mumpower, Dylan Shedd, Sam & Sophie Fresco. Proud great grandfather of Derrick, Colton & Kailey. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W Foster St. Melrose on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 4:00-8:00PM. Funeral procession from the Gately Funeral Home on Thursday morning July 12th at 9AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10AM. Interment with military honors at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend.
