Lillian E. (Carney) Parrish, passed away at the Oosterman's Rest Home in Melrose on July, 5, 2019 at 102 years of age. Lillian was born & raised in Melrose and a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1935. She was a lifelong Melrose resident and member of St. Mary's Church. Lillian was a former Chairman of the motor services at the Red Cross and also volunteered at the Red Cross for many years. She worked at Kennedy's Butter & Egg store in Melrose during WWII, ran the Melrose Wakefield Hospital coffee shop, volunteered at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital for many years and ran minstrels show at the Melrose Knights of Columbus. Lillian was the beloved wife of the late Charles L. Parrish for 71 years. Caring sister of the late William Carney, John Carney, Phillip Carney and Margaret "Peg" Carney. Sister in law of Dolores Carney. Also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives & friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday, July 11th from 8:30AM – 9:30AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, 9 Herbert St., Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Lillian's memory to St. Mary's Church, 46 Myrtle St., Melrose, MA 02176.
