Kevin W. McCaughey, of Tyngsborough, formerly of Melrose, died unexpectedly at the Beverly Hospital on Oct. 10, 2017 at the age of 53. Kevin was born in Somerville, raised in Melrose, a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1982 and went on to earn his degree from North Shore Community College. Kevin resided in Peabody for 5 years and Tyngsborough for the past 18 years. He worked as a Technician for Pepsi Bottling Group for 25 years and enjoyed going on trips to the Caribbean and Prince Edward Island. Kevin had a "Big Heart", loved cars, animals, playing pool, riding motorcycles and dirt bikes. He was a great son, brother and friend to many in his neighborhood & had many childhood friends. Kevin was the beloved husband of Elizabeth A. (Nigrelli) McCaughey for 20 years. Devoted son of Joseph P. & Mary L. (MacMillan) McCaughey of Melrose. Caring brother of Jack McCaughey & his wife Sheri of NH, Bob McCaughey & his wife Lisa of Boxford, MaryAnn Wells & her husband Glen of Stoneham. Son in law of Edith Salvatore & her husband Robert of Lynnfield and the late John Nigrelli, Sr. Brother in law of Louise Sheehan & her husband Tim of Tewksbury, Frank Nigrelli & Laurie Lunderville of Lowell, John Nigrelli, Jr. of VT and Melanie Nigrelli of Lowell. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives & friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Sunday, Oct. 15th from 2-5PM. Procession from the Gately Funeral Home on Monday, Oct. 16th at 8:45AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St., Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Kevin's name to the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049.
