Joseph "Joey" Crowley, of Melrose, died at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington on August 8, 2017 at the age of 55. Joey was born & raised in Melrose and attended Melrose schools. He was a lifelong Melrose resident and worked as a Janitor for Crystal Warehouse Corp. in Wakefield for many years. Joey enjoyed playing softball & basketball in Melrose for the Special Olympics and playing golf at Mt Hood Golf Club in Melrose. He loved to dance and was an avid Boston sports fan, attending Boston Red Sox spring training for more than 25 years. Joey was the loving son of the late Thomas W. & F. Rita (Sampson) Crowley. Caring brother of Thomas J. Crowley of Lawrence, Janet F. Curry & her husband John of CA and Susan R. Rubin of Ipswich. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends at Joey's group home in Reading. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday, August 10th from 4-7PM. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Friday, Aug. 11th at 9:45AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St., Melrose at 11AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to EMARC, 20 Gould St., Reading, MA 01867.
