Henry A. Rappa Sr., a Melrose resident for 50 years, died July 16, 2017 at the age of 73. Henry was born in Revere, MA on April 10, 1944 to Henry & Marie (Vigliotti) Rappa. He was raised in Revere and attended vocational school in Everett. Henry loved cars and spent 35 years working as an auto mechanic for Broadway Motor Service. After retiring, Henry began a second career, spanning nineteen years, as a valued assistant at his son's Melrose law office, always greeting clients with a smiling face. Henry loved spending time at his home on Cape Cod, particularly enjoying family time while boating on nice summer days. He also was an avid Red Sox fan attending many games both at Fenway Park and in Florida where he enjoyed an annual spring training trip with his son. He enjoyed many years with his dog Baxter. However, the greatest passion in Henry's life was his three grandchildren who provided him with endless joy. He was their "Papa", and he cherished every moment with them. He was a true family man, and will be greatly missed by all those he left behind. Henry was the beloved husband of the late Carol (Lavoie) Rappa. Loving father of Henry A. Rappa Jr. & his wife Cristin of Melrose and the late Kevin J. Rappa. Devoted grandfather of Caroline, Lauren, and Kevin. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 5-8 PM. Funeral Procession from the Gately Funeral Home on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 9 AM, followed by a 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St., Melrose. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Henry's memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
