Henry Anthony Ranelli, of Melrose, died at his home surrounded by his family on August 26, 2018 at the age of 79. Henry was born in the North End of Boston, raised in East Boston and a graduate of East Boston High School, Class of 1957. Henry proudly served his country as a Demolition & Reconnaissance Specialist in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War receiving his rifle marksmanship & pistol sharpshooter, Judo and Bar badges, and off the coast of Cuba during the Bay of Pigs. After retiring from the Marines as a Drill Sargent he went on to study Architectural Engineering at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. Henry resided in East Boston until 1973 and the past 45 years in Melrose. He worked as an Estimator & Field Superintendent for the Carpenters Union Local #2168 for many years before his retirement at the age of 55. Henry was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Church for many years. After his retirement, Henry worked at Ranelli Auto Body formerly of Woburn, Ma. where he enjoyed restoring old cars. He was also an avid collector of Marine Corp paraphernalia. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his family especially his wife Rosemarie and listening to music. Henry was the beloved husband of Rosemarie (LaMonica) Ranelli for 57 years. Loving father of James Ranelli of Melrose, Steven Ranelli of Revere, John Ranelli & his wife Lynda of Saugus, Paul Ranelli & his wife Carla of Melrose and Michelle Shea & her husband David of Saugus. Devoted son of the late Vincent & Jean (Spadorcia) Ranelli. Cherished grandfather of Danyelle, John, Steven, Joseph, Rachel, Samantha and Carmella. Great grandfather of Clara & Nadia.
