George Angelo Stathopoulos died surrounded by his family at Sunrise at Garden Park Nursing Home in Peabody on October 11, 2019. He was 87 years of age. Angelo was born in Everett, on August 24, 1932 to the late Anthony & Sylvia (Pitts) Stathopoulos. He was raised in Everett and graduated from Everett High School. Mr. Stathopoulos entered the US Air Force and served his country with pride during the Korean War.

After his discharge from the service Angelo worked as a mail handler for over 25 years for the US Post Office at the postal annex in South Boston. Angelo lived in Malden for many years, was a longtime member of the Forest Dale Community Church in Malden, where he was a former deacon, and also did janitorial duties for the church. He was an avid runner, enjoyed basketball and golfing with his brothers and the pastor of his church and playing sports with his sons. He and his late wife Marie enjoyed spending time at their second home in Bristol, NH by Newfound Lake. Angelo enjoyed all the Boston sports teams and will always be remembered for his kind and gentle manor and was loved by all who had the privilege to meet him.

Mr. Stathopoulos was the beloved husband of the late Marie (Norcott) Stathopoulos. Loving father of George P. Stathopoulos of Florida and the late Steven R. Stathopoulos. Cherished grandfather of James & Lindsey. Caring brother of Paul & his wife Connie Stathos, Robert Stathos & his late wife Cheri, Elaine Zani, Dennis Stathos & Cindy, and the late John Stathos and Tony Stathos. Also survived by many nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Forest Dale Community Church, 235 Forest St. Malden on Thursday, October 16, 2019 from 9:00AM -11:00AM, followed by a funeral service at 11AM. Interment with Military honors at Forest Dale Cemetery, 150 Forest St. Malden at 12:15PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701 or to Massachusetts/ New Hampshire Alzheimer's Research Association, 3 Waverly Oakes Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
