Frances C. (Gushue) Ford, an accomplished couturiere and dear mother, died suddenly at Mt. Auburn Hospital on Friday October 30th, at the age of 85. Frances was born and raised in East Boston, graduated from East Boston High and has been a resident of Melrose the past 50 years. She worked as a self employed couturiere throughout her life, making costumes for the Boston Ballet, the Malden Ballet and other local ballet schools. Frances also worked as a private dress maker, was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Church & Guild and a member of the Red Hat Society. She was the wife of the late Jerome J. Ford. Dear, dear mother of Mary Elizabeth Ford of Cambridge, Jerry Ford of Orlando FL, Michael T. Ford & his wife Diane Engel of Bedford, NH and Jennifer A. Hazelwood & her husband Brian of Scarborough ME. Sister of Madeline Reagan of N. Reading, Ann Penksa of AZ and Edward Gushue of CT. Adoring grandmother of Maia, Torrie & Garret Hazelwood and Kayleigh Ford. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Monday Nov. 3rd at 10AM. Funeral mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield, at 11AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Sat. 5-8PM & Sun 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Maryknoll Affiliates, Maryknoll, NY 10545.
