Doris C. (Cardillo) Masiello, of Melrose, died peacefully on January 10, 2017 at the age of 90. Doris was born in Wakefield on May 8, 1926 to Anthony & Mary (Lepore) Cardillo. She was raised in Wakefield and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1944. Doris married the love of her life, Ernest Masiello, on October 16, 1949 at St. Joseph's Church in Wakefield and spent 65 wonderful years together. They settled in Melrose after they were married and started their family. Doris was a former member of the Incarnation Parish in Melrose. Early in their marriage Doris played a big role in helping her husband Ernie get his business started, Crystal Motor Express Inc. She was a terrific mother and was always there for her children. Doris loved going to the family home at Bow Lake in New Hampshire in the summertime, a place they first started going to in 1958. And for the last forty years she had been traveling to Deltona, Florida in the winter. Doris was an avid golfer both at Mt. Hood Golf Course in Melrose as well as in Deltona. She also enjoyed knitting, baking, and cooking. Above all else, Doris loved her family, she was proud of them all. She will be greatly missed. Doris was the beloved wife of the late Ernest A. Masiello. Loving mother of Charles R. Masiello & his wife Judy of Wakefield, Ronald E. Masiello & his wife Elaine of Lynn, Jean M. Powers & her husband Andy of Melrose and her beloved nephew Rick Veerman of Wakefield. Proud grandmother of Leanne Masiello, Rachel Masiello, Bonnie Keane & her husband Gerry, Jessica Correia & her husband Joe, Natalie Casey & her husband Tom, and Kenneth Powers. Caring great-grandmother of Kyla & Colin Casey, Joseph & Fallon Correia, and Jude Keane. Sister of Mildred Connolly of DeBary, FL. Visiting Hours will be held on Monday, Jan. 16, from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 10 AM at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St., Melrose. Interment at St. Patrick Cemetery, Stoneham. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Doris' name to the Alzheimer's Association 480 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA 02472.
