Claire N. (Pedrini) Gillis passed away at Greenwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Wakefield on July 29, 2018. She was 84 years of age. Claire was born in Cambridge on March 30, 1934 to the late Mario & Madeline (Marchetti) Pedrini. She was raised in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School. She lived in Somerville for 10 years and Melrose for the past 43 years. Claire was a homemaker who had previously worked at Town & Country Jewelry Store in Chelsea for 15 years. She and her husband Leo also owned and operated C&L Variety Store on Lebanon Street in Melrose for many years. Claire enjoyed traveling with her husband Leo, taking trips to Lake Winnipesaukee and loved Chatham, MA. She enjoyed taking trips to Foxwoods, knitting, doing puzzles and crossword puzzles. But most of all she cherished all the times she spent with her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Gillis was the beloved wife of the late Leo J. Gillis. Loving mother of Dennis H. Sullivan, Bryan M. Sullivan & his wife Patsy, Sharon A. Lloyd and her longtime companion of Russell Willwerth and Sharon's late husband Edward J. Lloyd all of Melrose. Cherished grandmother of Nicole & Jessica Lloyd, Brianna & Madalyn Sullivan and Erin & Sean Sullivan. Proud great grandmother of Nystasia & Dayvian. Caring sister of the late Helen Mazurek & Richard Pedrini. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 4:00-7:00P. Funeral procession from the Gately Funeral Home on Friday morning August 3rd at 9:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St. Melrose at 10:00AM. Interment to follow at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Claire's name to Alzheimer's Research Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452.
