Anne F. (McGee) Stanton passed away on her 62nd wedding anniversary at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on April 18, 2017. She was 87 years of age. Anne was born in Melrose on July 14, 1929 to the late James & Mary (Farley) McGee. Mrs. Stanton was raised in Melrose, graduated from St. Mary's Grammar & St. Mary's High School and then from Bridgewater State College. Prior to having children she worked as a 1st grade teacher in Malden. Anne has been a lifelong resident of Melrose, was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a wonderful homemaker. Anne has been a lifelong member of St. Mary's Church, enjoyed taking trips to Hampton Beach and Alton Bay in New Hampshire, was a lover of animals, especially her cats and dogs and liked watching General Hospital. Anne was the beloved wife of the late James F. Stanton, Sr. Loving mother of John M. Stanton & his wife Donna and James F. Stanton Jr. & his wife Ellen, all of Melrose. Proud grandmother of Jessica, Maryanne, Shawn, Ryan & Kelly and great grandmother of Jonathan, Alexander & Jade McDermott. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Friday, April 21st from 8:30-9:30AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Anne's name to Hallmark Health Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, 178 Savin St., Suite 300, Malden, MA 02148.
