Aileen A. (Davidson) Sullivan, died peacefully on October 14, 2016 at Wingate at Reading, a nursing care facility. She was 98 years of age. Aileen was born In Boston on July 16, 1918 to the late Charles & Mary (Fouhy) Davidson. She was raised in Dorchester, graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School and has lived most of her life in Melrose. Mrs. Sullivan was and homemaker and was a longtime member of St. Mary's Church. She worked as a secretary at St. Mary's School for several years, was a member of the St. Mary's Choir and the Ladies Sodality at church. Aileen enjoyed sewing, knitting, traveling to Ireland, Alaska and Florida and spending time with friends at Bread & Bits of Ireland in Melrose. Mrs. Sullivan was also a member of the Melrose Women's Club, the arts & Crafts Society and the Catholic Women's Club. The Sullivan family would like to thank the staff at Wingate of Reading & Beacon Hospice for the wonderful and loving care they gave to Aileen. She was the beloved wife of the late James J. Sullivan. Loving mother of Jane E. Sullivan of Melrose. Sister of the late Robert Davidson & Evelyn Ryan. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Monday, October 17, 2016 from 8:30-9:30AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 10:00AM. Interment to follow at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend.
