Tribute & Message From The Family

Message From The Family

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to Claire by adding your memories and photos.

Claire L. (Elliott) Ranieri, of Melrose, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on May 16, 2020 at the age of 87. Claire was born in Medford, raised her family in Cambridge before moving to Stoneham and then Melrose.

Claire was the loving wife of the late Felice "Phil" Ranieri. Devoted mother of Karen E. Tarmey & her husband Michael, Philip P. Ranieri, all of Melrose, Timothy J. Ranieri & his wife Karen of Danvers and the late Diana M. Ranieri. Cherished grandmother of Cara & Sofia Tarmey and Isabella & Pio Ranieri. Caring sister of the late Joseph Elliott and his wife Marilyn and the late Mary Caccivio. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Claire was devoted to her family. Her children were her world even when tragedy hit. She loved her family adventures including trips to their hunting camp in Maine, cruises to Alaska , Grand Cayman and Bermuda, trips to Walt Disney World even as recent as September 2019. Family events were always special including Christmas Eve, birthday celebrations and impromptu gatherings. Claire loved the library, reading a book a day. Also she so enjoyed knitting; making hats, mittens and sweaters for her children and then her grandchildren. Those who knew her truly enjoyed her conversations, sass and spunk.

For the last 14 years, she was a front row fixture at the St Mary's 9:30 Mass with her family.

The private family graveside service on Friday, May 22, 2020 at 11:00AM will be live streamed on the Gately Funeral Home Facebook Page for those wishing to view it. The Ranieri family will be inviting all of Claire's relatives & friends to a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church in Melrose with a reception to follow at a time and date that will be announced once the current restrictions have been lifted.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made payable to Cambridge Recreation/ Special Needs.
