Tribute & Message From The Family

Message From The Family

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to Gladys by adding your memories.

Gladys R. Murray (Gullage), 87, of Melrose, loving wife of the late John P. Murray, left this life and all of us for heaven on Sunday, April 5, 2020. She was greeted by her husband Jack Murray, her mother and father, Warren Gullage and Margaret Gullage (Quinn) of Somerville, brother and sister-in-law Warren and Ruthie Gullage of Somerville, sister and brother-in-law Lorraine and Joe Mooney of Belmont, and her younger brother Francis Gullage (Baby Frankie).

Glady was blessed in this life and truly enjoyed every minute of it. She was a mom, nannie, auntie, and a friend and neighbor to many. She loved her family, spending so many years at her home in Cape Neddick, with her husband, kids, and grandkids. She loved the sight of the Nubble lighthouse from the road, the sound of the ocean, the beach, and the beautiful sunsets from her deck. She also loved spooky movies, drinking wine, socializing at restaurants, and she especially loved scooping up all of the Beanie Babies she could find, much to Jack's displeasure.

In the retirement years, Jack and Glady enjoyed the winters in Florida, where they made many friends and enjoyed good times. It was there that she rediscovered her love for painting, after dabbling in it when her kids were younger. Her friends say she was a natural, creating some beautiful work that she displayed at the yearly art show. She loved talking to anyone and everyone. She was funny, feisty, opinionated, mischievous, loving and generous, and made people laugh. She was just plain fun and a gift to all of us who were fortunate enough to know her.

In the summer of 2018, Gladys and her family visited Ireland. She was so happy to have all of her kids and grandkids together in such a magical place. She was grateful for that time together and the great memories. This brought her so much joy.

Gladys is survived by her children, daughter Diane MacDonald of Melrose, son John Murray and Heidi Lang of Saugus, and son Frank Murray and wife Randi of Melrose. She is remembered lovingly by her grandchildren, Christina and her husband Jake, Johnny, Tommy, Joshua, Ryan, Zachery; great granddaughter, Abby; and, many beloved nieces and nephews, extended family and so many dear friends.

Because of these difficult times, services are private and reserved for immediate family. We realize there are many dear family and friends who are unable to pay their respects. The family will plan a celebration of life for Gladys at a later date when appropriate. We ask only for love and prayers for each of our communities and country, the heroes that are caring for our needs and keeping us fed, and most especially for our healthcare heroes on the frontlines. We are grateful for you.

Please feel free to send a card to family members, drop a card at the funeral home for the family or send a message of online condolence.
