Tribute & Message From The Family

Message From The Family

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to John by adding your memories.

God called home John Patrick Gill on Thursday, January 9, 2020. John died at Massachusetts General Hospital with his family by his side. He was 51 years of age. John was born in Cambridge on May 15, 1968. He was raised in Somerville and graduated from Minuteman High School in Lexington where he was the Class President. John was the former husband of Carla (Melillo) Gill. Loving father of Anna Rose Gill, Anthony John Gill, Mary Francis Gill, Bridget Ann Gill and Christopher Joseph Gill. Beloved son of Ann M. (Grady) Gill and the late Hugh G. Gill. Cherished brother of Hugh Gill Jr, Patricia Manning and Kathleen Bazazi & her husband Kam. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. John was a hard worker, owning his own plumbing business and working himself as a plumber since the age of eighteen. John was a friend to all, with a contagious sense of humor. He was a story teller, a comedian, a dreamer, a thrill seeker. John loved children and held much pride for his own five children. John enjoyed the beauty in life; He often awoke early in the mornings just to walk the beach with his dog, Rocky, and watch the sunrise. He will be gravely missed by all his family and friends

Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Tuesday January 14, 2020 from 4:00-8:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield on Wednesday, January 15th at 11:00AM. Followed by a burial at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Gill Education Fund, c/o Melrose Bank, 638 Main St. Melrose, MA 02176.

Condolence & Memory Journal

I was thinking of John today. I was shocked when I heard he passed away and saddened to think he was lost to his family and friends so early in life. John would do anything for you. A real friend - many times he was just a phone call away. Just like his dad, a wonderful man.

My deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family at this time of sorrow. He will ALWAYS be in our thoughts and prayers. Our family here at FERGUSON will deeply miss his sense of humor. He always came to the counter with smiles and jokes. No matter who was here or what time of the day it was he ALWAYS had you laughing and brightened up your day. He was a gentle giant and he will TRULY be missed. He is now flying high with the Angels XOXO.
